Mostly since it feels like a waste of time, even though Haruka could technically run and think at the same time. Instead she just hurries over to the lake. It's easy to spot Usagi's form there since it's usually not exactly a busy spot, and so Haruka heads over to where the other girl is. Haruka seems relatively calm, especially considering the circumstances, but the look in her eyes is a little softer than usually. ]
[She turns to look at Haruka and then back towards the water. In her hands is a boquet, the colors of the roses are not just the color she thinks of for Michiru, but there's a rose for Chibiusa, Setsuna, Rei, Makoto... and Luna. Something from each girl. She even has something small for Kunzite.]
Hey...
[She takes the bright yellow rose petals, Luna's rose, and rips off the whole bud, throwing the petals into the water. Chibiusa's deep pink rose is next to be scattered on the water.]
[ It's so obvious that Usagi isn't okay. And Haruka gets it. She herself can deal with Michiru no longer being in this place. Sure, it's far from ideal to be seperated like this, but she knows she'll eventually return home and reunite with Michiru. The connection between their souls feels too strong for her to even consider any other possibility.
But everyone has said Usagi has been here for such a long time. She must have seen so many people come and go - to not even mention the people she hasn't seen in all this time. Of course it must've been tough on her.
Which means she must be there for Usagi right now. Her own time to miss Michiru can come later.
So Haruka steps up to where the other girl is standing, now giving her a small smile. ]
[She tore up Makoto's soft pink rose.] When Mamoru was taken the first time, I locked myself in my room and just cried until... well, I think I might have fainted from lack of eating.
[She tore up Setsuna's deep red, almost black, rose and threw the petals into the water.]
When Luna was taken... I blew up a part of the forest, leveled it... [She looked out towards the woods.] There's been regrowth there, there are baby trees there now.
It doesn't get any easier, no matter how many times they come and go. But I'm getting better about my reactions.
[ The second reaction is more surprising to hear about than the first - just endlessly crying sounds more like Usagi, even though it's still sad. The destruction a little less. But on the other hand-- Usagi had been here so long, endured so much. Haruka knows what pain and circumstances do to people.
She takes a step over towards the other girl, playing with a strand of Usagi's hair idly before lightly ruffling her hair. ]
Look at you. You've grown up before I could even notice. [ Not that Usagi hasn't had her mature moments even back home, but still. ] You know they'd scold you though if they saw you all sad, right? They would tell you to go have fun with Mamoru-san or something instead of feeling hurt all by yourself.
[She looks out over the water, watching the petals float further and further away. She leaned closer to Haruka, taking comfort in her warmth and her scent. At the mention of the other girls, her shoulders fall a little as she looks at the roses remaining.]
I know... I know... none of you would want me sad and upset about not having you all here... that I'll see you all again soon... [She felt the pinpricks of tears in her eyes.] But you girls are as much my family as he is. My life only became complete when you all came into it. So my heart... it's not whole when we're not.
[ It's only natural for Usagi to feel that way. She's practically the most emotional person Haruka has ever met. How could the girl not be upset when she treasures their bonds to this extent? So Haruka gets it, even if it doesn't make this situation any easier right now. ]
I can't change anything about the fact we're not all complete.. I guess I can't even promise that I'll be as long as you're here. [ Because this place's whims are beyond them. Michiru's disappearance only confirms that even more to her. Haruka can't think of a single scenario where Michiru would leave her behind like this without saying a thing. Gone so suddenly.
It could happen to any of them at any moment. ]
But we can focus on what we've got here now. That's what I'm doing too.
[ It's not like it's easy for her to suddenly be seperated from Michiru like this either, after all. ]
So how about we get everyone together tonight and do something fun to take our minds off it, huh? We can eat all the delicious things you want.
[She brought her hands up to her lips, her action bringing what remained of the bouquet to her lips. She closed her eyes as tears fell and she turned to look at Haruka.]
I'm terrified, Haruka-san, that every loved one I have will slip through my grasp and I'll be here all alone. [She threw the last of the roses in the water to cover her eyes.]
I don't know if I can be that strong, I've already lost all of you once before I can't... I can't do that, not again.
But... I would like to enjoy the time we do have together. I want to stop crying.
[ At the very sight of those tears Haruka instinctively wants to crush whatever force is behind all of this. Whatever decides who comes and who goes. Being temporarily seperated is something Haruka knows she and Michiru can handle if they really have to. Even if it sucks.
But Usagi isn't like that. Why would anyone do something that cruel to a girl with such a heart?
She reaches out, drawing the other girl protectively into her arms. ]
Then tell me if there's anything I can do to make you feel even a bit more reassured.
[ Even though full reassurance is impossible in this place, which is the most frustrating thing about it. ]
You know I'd do anything for you. [ And granted, though Haruka in particular has a big soft spot for the other girl, still-- ] All of us would.
[Hugs are good, when you're someone like Usagi, hugs are everything. She is a person of hugs and kisses and constant company. She loves the hug and takes a deep breath, some of the tension in her shoulders leave, the tightness of her jaw eases. Plus, much like with Minako, she has a unique relationship with the unspoken leader of the outer senshi. She's shaking, but the trembles are becoming smaller.]
I just... just spend time with me when you can. So I have endless good memories to hold onto to outweigh the pain of losing you.
[ Haruka knows that just one hug can't be enough, but even the slightest hint of some of the heavy weight leaving Usagi is already fine with her. Things probably won't get better today, anyway, when things are still so raw.
But they'll get better with time. ]
Of course. Let's do all sorts of fun things. [ She can use that distraction as well, even though Haruka is never the type to talk about her own weaknesses out loud. ] I'm sure there's still all sorts of fun things here you could show me.
Not yet. Things have been kind of busy between everything.. [ You know. Vines popping up everywhere and trying to take care of those. Helping people out with pumpkin-shaped creatures problems. ]
There's one that has a whole... dinner mystery event on it, I'm super bad at them but would you wanna go on it with me? I got it as a prize for a business card raffle at this cafe.
